CityCab Invests in In-Vehicle Touch-Screen Devices for Taxi Telematics System

As part of ComfortDelgro’s Integrated Transport Management System (ITMS) developed by ST Electronics (Info-Comm Systems), the Waveon 728 is a mobile data terminal (MDT) supplied by InfoWave to assist taxi drivers in the Taxi Booking and Despatch System.

Making use of the latest technology in GPS and GSM/GPRS communications facilitated by InfoWave’s Waveon 728, the system enhances CityCab’s taxi booking and despatch operations. With access to location information, taxi drivers are able to locate passenger pick-up points more easily and quickly. In addition, they can also accept e-payment options, log onto CityCab's Drivers' Management Portal, and even make GSM voice calls.

The system, which was completed in 2005, has successfully enabled CityCab to cater for greater flexibility and improved operational efficiency, incorporating new features such as customer management, service provider management and billing and settlement modules.

To-date, a total of 5,000 CityCabs are equipped with InfoWave’s Waveon 728 MDT. Waveon 728’s 7-inch TFT glare-resistant display makes it suitable for all road and weather conditions.
